Company Background

Recognizing the IT workforces' high demandfor an open source, scalable and collaborative platform that required easy-to-use and familiar functionality for business users' speedy adoption, MindTouch was founded by Steve Bjorg and Aaron Fulkerson in 2005. The first iteration of MindTouch, Deki Wiki, was created as a pet project and within three years was rated as one of the Top 5 OSS Projects by SourceForge.net.

Two years later the pet project grew to a robust enterprise collaboration platform with more than 16 million users, 400,000 web visits each month and SourceForge.net positioning as "#1 in open source collaboration." MindTouch is ranked in the Forrester Wave, Gartner's Magical Quadrant and frequently referred to as an alternative to Sharepoint. From powering Mozilla's vast developer community to a Gov 2.0 UGC portal for the Washington Post, the platform is being implemented globally by Fortune 20 and small businesses alike.

Today, thousands of developers, business users, IT and information workers login to their MindTouch deployments and define new ways to benefit from the business platform. MindTouch users are proliferating solutions online, behind firewalls and in the MindTouch developer community. In 2009, MindTouch released a new suite of products including the Collaborative Intranet, Corporate Extranet, Collaborative Product Documentation, Knowledge Base and Dashboard CRM Mash-up. NEC, Microsoft, Amazon, Novell, Cap Gemini, The Washington Post and many others make significant code contributions to the MindTouch platform and continuously help drive the innovation of new products.
